How to Give a Book a New Life as Bookbox !!

Today is the last time I will be posting as a design team member for Art Anthology!  yes, sadly, as I step down from the design team after being there for a year..
...but don't be sad, there are very talented new design team members already there!
Thanks Stayce for having me, I really had fun working (playing) with your beautiful product! They will stay in my stash and I am sure I will USE them!

I am entering this in the challenge on
1. Mini Album Makers Challenge
2. SSS Monday challenge : Not a card

This time I chose to alter a book into a bookbox.
It was a looooooot of work!

I gave myself some homework: and I must say: mission accomplished...
I wanted to know whether I like to work on a white or black surface better?! I still don't know the answer.. I like them both.

I chose to use the colors from the current moodboard:

For a step-by-step of the process: SNAPGUIDE!!

Some photo's of the project: I had fun!

Have a play and show it to us on our Facebook group Art Anthology’s Adventures in Art !

Longing for the birds...

When it's wintery outside, there are no birdsongs.
I long for that, the twittering of their songs.

LOVE this design; it's so versatile, and very suitable for masculine themed projects too.

The background has been made with Nuance colors, the white accents with an acrylic marker. The extra color in the stamped images has been done with watercolor pencils.

TWTT at Magemta - backgrounds!

We have a Tuesday with the Team blog (TWTT) post today on the Magenta blog!
On one of the Tuesdays each month, we will feature DT member's tips and/or tricks in regards to a crafty topic.
This month, the team is sharing different tips and ideas on ways to
create backgrounds.

I am sharing a background technique too:
"smooshing of Nuance to paper with an acrylic block"

Sprinkle very little Nuance powder onto your acrylic block (3 colors) and mist it with water.
Put your cardstock on top of the acrylic block, and turn the stack so you can see what is happening. Move the color by pressing in areas, until you are satisfied with the blending and coverage.

Now for the difficult part: let it sit for about 10 minutes, so the water and color can get saturated by the paper. This will prevent it from having puddles of muddy color on the side you lift off the block as last.

Finish the card as shown.

Colour in my world - Indian summer colors !

The back cover of my (full!) art journal.

I tested Paper-Artsy's rusting powder on the diecut word TIME, and it worked out great. I applied it over wet texture paste, and had to wait for the rust. It really smells like rust, so I imagine it's real rust!

I am entering this in the challenge on :
2. Art Journal Journey - Colour in my World
3. FB group Creative Ladies (closed group) - structure, first word in a book on page 16, indian summer colors : challenge chosen by Willy Duit.
4. TIOT - clocks/time

Summery flowers..

While enjoying the warmer sunny days, there is always the joy of exploring nature. I am a nature-minded person, so I enjoy it to the full!

Background has been made with a gelliplate and Nuance powders.
I've used a stamping tool,  to first stamp the image. I filled the image with white acrylic paint, let it dry, and stamped the image again. I stamped the image in the background with second-generation stamping.

I added some color to the centres of the flowers with coloring pencils.

Gelatine prints and how to use them in your art...

Happy to be up on the Art Anthology blog again today, with some happy collaging with monoprints. ..I am showing you what to do with all these beautiful papers lying around in your studio, gathering dust!

When making monoprints (or gelliprints), you end up with a lot of beautiful papers! Colorful, shiny, textural happy paper…
..even the papers you’ve used to cleanup your brayer, are very useful to collage with, or use them as backgrounds.
I’ve used this one to create an art journal page…

...and went through stages, changing plans,
(I had to, as a full cup of coffee went over the project; I was not happy with that person, you might guess !)

and ended up with a colorful page with stenciling and layers of stamping and colors.

For al the stages it went through, please see the SNAPGUIDE:Check out How to Use Your Gelliprints by Art Anthology on Snapguide.

And while making monoprints, you sometimes have paint on a stamp, after making marks with it on the gelliplate?
Use it to make a one-of-a-kind background!!
